Shaoxing 绍兴

Shaoxing is a chunky basket weave in two tones. Ivory threads cross with taupe, grey or olive, so each colour has a flecked, tweed-like look and a slight lustre. The scale of the weave is easy to see, which gives the cloth a crafted character. The palette stays natural: ivory, oatmeal, stone, greige and olive-grey. Photographed in deep folds, in a swirl and on a dé sample hanger, it looks warm and textural.
